Since 2006 Walmer Parish Churches have been developing a link with the Diocese of Toliara (Tulear) in Madagascar as part of the Diocese of Canterbury's official link with Madagascar.

Bishop Todd MacGregor of the Diocese of Toliara (Tulear) has visited Walmer a number of times since. On each occasion the churches have been able to contribute to the mission in Madagascar.

In 2006 through the Canterbury Diocese 'Poverty and Hope' appeal, Walmer Parish Churches contributed £2000 to the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG) in Madagascar.

Bishop Todd was able to visit again in October 2007 as the churches and church school raised funds to buy mosquito nets to be distributed by the church in Madagascar. Over £1800 was raised across the parish.

In 2010 the parish were able to give Bp Todd around £500 when he visited Walmer in June.

It is hoped that, in the future, there will be a parish visit to Toliara (Tulear) to help with ministry and mission.
